Holiday Card Project 2008
Welcome!
Yay! Xian che is here to join us. I wish I can find a way to transfer your old posts from multiply to here too. Just called Shu just now and she told me she’ll get to planning our Octaves gathering after she finish with her post-exam-stress-release spree. Xian, if you have problem navigating the site feel free to ask me. I also took long hours to explore and edit the blog too…
In the mean time I’ll update on the many months that I haven’t been blogging. So instead of moving to deviantart as mentioned in my previous post, now I’ve made a joint blog for us all. True, I’ve been spending a lot of time at home lazying around, but there were times when I’ve also been busy for some time. Like when I have to apply through UCAS to try out my luck in applying to UK uni, and then I also applied to ANU and Sydney in case I didn’t manage to get Cambridge (which I most probably won’t but we’ll hear the results in Jan). Then I had to prepare for the Cambridge interview which i will relate the experience next time. And also I finally get on to having driving license and finally passing to get a P at the end of October. It was a just pass, right on the dot, 16/20. I know most people enjoy learning driving at first, but I have to tell you I actually feel pretty stressed out during driving lessons because it feels like I keep doing one mistake after another. I’m just glad that it’s over and I’m eligible to drive now, though i still have to go through practise sessions with my mum.
Besides that, my mom underwent operation, to remove a ureteral tumour that spoilt her right kidney. I thank my lucky stars that it was benign, not cancerous. It was a pretty emotional week when my mum realized she lost her kidney, the shock and the tears, with the addition that my dad was not around during that time. With luck, he managed to come back in time just before my mum went in for the operation. It lasted for about 5-6 hours long, from 6pm in the evening to 1 am. Due to an emergency case, my mum’s operation was delayed this late. To Dr. Tan, I give my salute, you were indeed expensive, but you work hard and were dedicated to your patients. Life as a really good doctor is not easy indeed, imagine, working until 1-2am. And to both my Xiao Yi and Aik Howe Gogo, a million thanks for taking the extra leave off work and staying with us, taking care of my mum, comforting and assuring her and just being there for us through times of difficulty. This deed I swear will not go unremembered.
Following that, my dad went to check his kidney stuff too and went for bladder stone clearing. So they both stayed at home for about a month. My dad just went back to work, but my mom is still home now as she has a heavy operation, with large incision that still hurts to this day. But she’s recovering well with less and less pain each passing day and is so much better now. So I’ve only spent like a week or two taking real good care of her.
I’m also suppose to learn how to cook! Jeez, so I actually spent a few sessions helping out in the kitchen and trying to learn some skills. I have yet to attempt to cook anything on my own though. The only thing I managed to cook by myself was Miso soup. Yes, I know how to cook miso soup… lolx! It’s fairly simple.
And on a few occasions went out to spent time with my buddies, had farewell for Choey Ling who has now flown off to ireland, celebrated my birthday, spending Shu’s money on a very expensive lunch, going out with Eva, Liyi and Isabell to celebrate early Eva’s birthday.
That pretty sums out how I’ve been spending Sep-Nov, besides onlining for long hours almost everyday and doing art, graphics tags etc… while most of my friends are all busy studying through their hectic uni life and I spent like probably 1/100 of their energy throughout the many months.
And i tell you, even with lazying around, time still flies past as fast as when I was still studying. And I also miss studying. Can you believe that?
And now, I’m in charge of organizing my Ama’s 85th birthday at home. Steamboat dinner with relative around. Haih!… But I’m looking forward to seeing you guys too and spending time with you all since holiday is upon us now. You guys are invited to come to my house too anytime, just give me a call! =D
ps. and like how shu has lost two mobile phones this year, I have also SPOILED two mobile this year. It’s a terrible year for mobiles… I’m gonna get a second-hand one next time.
Hurry Up
Yay, i’ve finish setting up the site, so xian, shu, kim… hurry up and join as soon as you can and import your previous posts in if u can. Then it’ll be complete <3
