Akapaa BOO!

Sometimes you wish you couldn’t care less what other people think about you. Why must we always define ourselves base on the people around us? When will we get the freedom to be ourselves? Thank you to those who know us best and accept us as who we are. :D

On a totally unrelated not:
Sometimes I think we all try to grow p too fast that we’ve forgotten how to enjoy our childhood. or isit that we don’t have any?

and on another totally unrelated note:
A Skeptical Patriot and Reply

I know both of them. But that is not the point.
What do you all think? Who do you agree with more? Or do you think both is off the point? What do you young generations think? Do you think like them or you just can’t care less?

I shall refrain from giving any comments bout it yet.

    Hmmmm, my own two cents:

It really depends on which way you wanna look at it. Realistic, or Idealistic.

But when it comes right down to it, I don’t think the blame is on the system alone.

Yes, M’sia has more than its fair share of “miscalculated decisions”, to put it subtly, and yes, many young, passionate, idealistic, “I-Will-Change-The-System” fresh graduates usually burn out and slowly melt into the decades-long practices of the system.

Fact is; yes, M’sia isn’t perfect. And I guess we all have to understand that if you want to change the system, if you want to make a difference, its NOT going to be easy. It takes decades of discipline, of standing out & being different, of overwork & under-appreciation. And if you end up “joining them”, if you finally give in to small compromises to your values and ethics day by day until one day, you’re no different from any other – then who else is to blame?

But in the end, who are we to criticise students who don’t want to return to serve? Like I just mentioned above, if you want to come back- enter the system and attempt at revolutionising it, you HAVE to have the gut desire, the burning passion, and the determined, inextinguishable discipline to avoid compromise at all costs. If you don’t, who’s to blame you for wanting to seek self-improvement elsewhere? Personally, I feel that there’s no point forcing someone who wants to leave, to stay where they don’t want to be. It’ll just accumulate frustration, and all you’ll get out of it is yet another disgruntled worker contributing to the system and fueling the racism debates, etc etc – we don’t need more of that.

If you don’t have the heart to come back, if you feel that you’ll grow better, and be able to contribute more out of the country – then go ahead. Only, just remember this – when you succeed out there, please remember the roots of the country you came from. Don’t bring your disgruntlement towards this country out to the world. Put it this way – every family has its problems, but you don’t go shouting about it on the streets. And wherever you are, Malaysia will be proud of you. Just remember that you were born here, and to a certain extent, the experiences you gained here; be it good or bad – played a role in bringing you to where you are now.

On the other hand, if you feel the calling in your heart to come back, and change the country – by all means! We need more people like you. Only, don’t be naively enthusiastic and idealistic about it. Its NOT going to be easy. Its going to take all your willpower to avoid “taking the easy way out” and “following the norm”. You will face constant disappointments, and you’re gonna have to be very courageous to stand up, be different and make a change. Make a small compromise in ANYTHING, and you’ll find your burning passion slowly being extinguished, as you sink into the mundanity of daily life. But ultimately, if you finish the fight and run the good race..you will have made a difference. Sure, you’re not gonna turn M’sia into the perfect, all-smiles, no traffic-jams-nor-snatch-thieves, low petrol price country, but you would have changed quite a few lives along the way.

Haha..I think I’ve gone off on a tangent and ranted happily here..lol..you can ignore me =) =)

And on a “totally unrelated note”, I miss you heaps!!! =P And yes, personally in my case, I do think I’ve taken my childhood for granted – and maybe, I didn’t exactly have one too..lol..
