10 things I learned from my trip to China…

1. My Mandarin sucks big time. Because I sometimes can’t understand what they say. I use really simple words but they have a wider vocabulary range, so there are deeper words that I can’t comprehend. Sometimes it’s worse when they have a very strong accent, I wouldn’t be able to understand a single word. Their dialects just sounds like a total foreign language to me.

2. People in the city aren’t very friendly. Waiters looks as if they have a personal grudge with you when you order. Passerby’s pretend they didn’t hear you when you stop and ask for directions. Well, this is just a general impression I got, I can assure you that not all of them are like that, we managed to met friendlier ones, and those in smaller towns are usually very accommodating.

3. China’s TV channel is awesome. Really! Their programs are just amazing, very wide range, educational and entertaining. And if I’m not wrong, each province have their own special TV channel too.

4. Too many smokers there. But I heard 10 years ago it was even worse, so I’m glad. Plus, they spit by the roadside, kinda a really horrible habit. Other than that, their roads are very clean, or at least cleaner than M’sia. You rarely see rubbish streaming by the roadside.

5. People they are not afraid to argue for their rights (from what I heard from my aunt). They would argue with the policeman if they feel it’s not justified. Not like us, either guai guai go away or bagi makan kopi duit. It’s something admirable indeed if it’s true. I’ve not seen such a case yet, but I did see people arguing by the roadside before. haha!

6. Just gotta love their road systems. Bicycles, electric bicycles, motorists can just cycle along the main road safely. Buses got their own lanes, internet and signs provides all the information needed to plan your route before you set out or if u get lost. Buses travel to almost every part of the city.

7. Taxi/cab now have a plastic protective shield. Apparently to avoid being robbed by bad guys.

8. SOME china university graduate students speaks better English than me. With an american accent. And without bahasa rojak. Shame on me!

9. I believe, Tourism is one of the biggest industry in China. And you can’t avoid being cheated, because the locals get cheated too. And most of the tourists are local, not foreign.

10. China is really beautiful but it’s too big to travel finish.

Nevertheless, I still want to visit China! I want to visit all the beautiful places on this earth! I want to meet people, experience different culture and enjoy life! ^^

And i still have yet to upload Huang Shan photos!

there are maps of china, provincial, district and city maps… important if u want to plan your route from one place to another and navigate through the city (though i believe we can just get maps when we reach there)
